Paul’s Last Letter

Chapter Closing: 2 Timothy 4:6-18

There is always something special in last words of loved ones.

Very frequently it reveals inner character and life. It is so with the final message from the pen of our beloved Apostle. As we bow our ear to catch this message - it speaks volumes of truth. Paul speaks a…

  1. Perfect Resignation
“I am now ready to be offered”. He poured out his life in the service of the Lord Jesus Christ and his now ready to have his blood poured out as a sacrifice for Him.At one time, he was in a strait about this. Phil 1:22 - Now he is ready - Like one all packed in readiness to step on board of a ship to take him to a better country. Be ye also ready.
  2. Assured Success
“I have fought the good fight. I have finished the course. I have kept the faith.” Paul was assured that his life and testimony for the Lord was no failure, but that the will of God had been fulfilled in him.As a warrior, he fought and conquered. How many have thrown their armor down?
As a racer, he took the course and finished the race. He stripped off all pet sins.
As a custodian, he kept the faith until the death. He kept the rules of the games. Are we keeping what has been delivered to us - our convictions. II Timothy 3:14
  3. Joyful Hope
“Henceforth there is laid up for me…” The Lord was his righteous judge. He had this righteous crown laid up for him. The unrighteous judge had a sword prepared for him. Paul could joyfully sing “Oh death, where is thy sting?”Also, we can sing joyfully in the face of any obstacle if we are faithful. The mark of a good Christian is their lack of fretting and stewing over obstacles. Learn to be a happy Christian.

Painful Experiences

It was surely with a deeply grieved soul that the aged Apostle told of Demas, who had forsaken him, “having loved this present world”. [Here a personal story is told of a painful experience].

Alexander, the copper smith, who had dome him much evil and how no man stood with him while on his first trial, but all forsook him. Some will forsake you… they did Jesus! In all this, Paul was a sharer of his Master’s sorrows. [Read Matthew 26:56]

Love of world, back-bitting & cowardliness are still sins that bring sorrow to many a faithful servant of God.

[Note to C.A.'s - "Let it not be mentioned of us doing things that would cause painful experiences to our superintendent, teacher, mother, father or the Lord."]

Forgiving Love : “I pray that it may to be laid to their charge.”
